Wifi invisible for some devices

Post by thekk »

Hello Folks,

I noticed a new inexplicable behaviour on my WRT1200ac.
We use the 2.4GHz and the 5GHz wifi.
The 5GHz (wlan0) is some times no more visible to some devices but not all.
So i cant find the wifi with a device and an other device is using it without any problems. It's not always the same devices, it seems to be random.
2.4GHz is not affected from this behaviour.
Then i have to restart the wifi with cli command "wifi", some times i have to hack in the command 2 or 3 times before anything happend.

Btw.: 2.4GHz(wlan1) isnt restarting with the "wifi"-command, its just the 5GHz(wlan0).

From memory I similar results from about that same version.

You might find better results from the new build

The described case doesn't appear every day.
I will give a feedback if it happened again or not after maybe 5 days.

It seems that this issue has been fixed with last FW-verson.

It happens again today.
Firmware: 1.9.X (Built 20160602-1751 git@09ccf69)

Additional, the 2.4GHz speed breaks down to 10-15MBit/s
which was previously not the case.
I can't reset this issue with cli-command "wifi" again, now i have to fully restart the router, representing a marked deterioration.

Edit:
I didnt tested the FW from 25th May fully so its maybe my fault.
Today with the newer FW, is see that the 2.4GHz doesn't make a 40MHz connection with any client.
All clients have a 72.2MBit/s connection.

I would try a factory reset for the invisible problem. I've never heard of it though.
You should post the output of "iwinfo" when it happens, and a "logread".

As for the decrease in speed occasionally, this is an issue with the driver. It is constantly being developed and improved.

As for the limited negotiation speed to clients lacking 40MHz, are you in an area with other wifi signals? You aren't allowed to interfere with other networks so 40mhz won't start.

Please be respectful when posting. I do this in my free time on a volunteer basis.

I reset the settings to factory default and do all settings new.
If it happen again, i will post log and status reports.

Due to the lacking 40MHz, with all due respect, other wifi signals cant be the problem.
Of course, i am in an area with other wifis but not many.
My wifi is on channel 13 with second channel below.
There is just one other wifi on ch12 with about -80dbm and ch13 is empty except my wifi. And additionally this work without any problem with full speed before i flashed the version from 25th may. But i dont know if its work between 25th may and 2nd june because there are just 2 days between them in my case and i dont tested it.

Edit:
After reset all, 150Mbps with 2.4GHz are working correctly.
