Wifi Ch. and Power of WRT1200ac

Hi Folks,

i flashed a WRT1200ac with 1.9 and i noticed that there are just the first four 5GHz channels available.
i also noticed that the wifi power is not very well.
I dont have a comparison to the original FW because i didnt do a fully benchmark and range check but the range of the wifi isnt quite better than the cheap crappy TC7200 from our provider.

Is there a way to do it better? Change wifi driver or something?

Please use the latest 1.9.X to get the latest wifi driver.
Also, what country are you in and did you set this in the driver?

there is just one version for this router, 1.9.0.
iam in germany, where shouldthis option be in menu?

The country setting is edited through the command line. We can cover this when you're up and running in the new version.

Thanks for your reply with the new firmware.
Now i have all 5GHz channels available, even without setting the region over ssh.
The real bandwidth in work(speed) over 5GHz is now quite good and reach our 120mbit internet connection. That wasn't possible before.
Also an Bug was erased that limited the wifi speed to ~12mbit after a random time.

But the range of the wifi isnt better yet. Its realy frustrating.
The room with the worst wifi-link has ~ -70dB over the cheap standart "router" with 5GHz and integrated antenna, the WRT1200ac gives us ~ -80dB.
Changing the alignment of the antennas improve nothing.

I bought new antennas (Delock RP-SMA) and that improved the wifi-link to ~ -70dB but it looks nevertheless realy bad for this router.
2.4GHz wasn't better with the new antennas but has roundabout half more range than the 5GHz.

I can't believe that this router is so bad in wireless...

EDIT: In country germany (DE) it is allowed to set 5GHz below channel 100 to 23dB(200mW) and above channel 100 to 30dB(1000mW).
It is possible that this isn't considered in the firmware?
This would be a statement for this issues because i just can set tx power to 20 dB.

It isn't considered by default. If you set your country to Germany and then reboot it will be able to use the full power.
This hopefully will return some range and power to you.

If you are unsure how to do this send me a pm. In general I don't discuss setting the country on the forum.
