Ping peak is normal in game?

Post by fernando143 »

Hi, have activated qos upload an qos download, But sometimes I have peaks 500, 600, 800, even 999.
I want to know if it is normal to have those peaks.
In my house you play cs 1.6, this game is very sensitive to lag, when you're watching videos or downloading something, the ping from 70ms to 200ms walks or 400ms, this makes sometimes freeze within the game and is very annoying

Can we see your QOS settings please?

I must clarify that the PC is connected by cable to the router, the other devices connect wi-fi (other PCs, phones, etc.)

Note: I am using the google translator because I do not know much English, I hope you understand what I write.

use these classes and rules your rules wont pick up your game traffic and cs uses a single client port on your machine so you only need one rule aswell as show you acc status

It's also worth noting that with only 200kb/s of upload, your Ping is going to be very hard to maintain. This is why you're getting spikes that high.

The settings from greyfreak should help but you may not get the result you were hoping for.

Something I noticed... on your download QoS, your minimum bandwidth (min BW) is set to 2007kbps, which is also the total download bandwidth on your connection. Since you have ACC on, I'm guessing your link limit goes under that (especially since you have minRTT on). Perhaps the router is trying to push 2007kbps of bandwidth on a connection that has less than that available, leading to high pings?

I'm not a big fan of using minBW and minRTT. Rather than use minBW, you can just use percentages, and minRTT can be very aggressive in cutting your bandwidth in exchange for almost not difference in pings.

If that's too much to read, I recommend just removing or reducing your minimum bandwidth for CS service class.
QoS Tip: Don't complicate your QoS settings. Gargoyle evenly splits available bandwidth between active devices as needed. Just delete all your classification rules and leave only one normal service class and you're done. No more arguing over bandwidth.

thanks for the rules, is now a rule for the whole game, but still the "peaks" ...

That may be true, but while my brother was playing cs, I monitored the consumption rate of rise of the cs class, and I can assure you that more than 15kb / s does not pass.
In my house I have two Internet providers, which I am connected now is 2Mb / s downstream and 256Kb / s upload, but the other supplier is 1Mb / s downstream and 512Kb / s upload, then I will connect the router that provider and will inspect the upload speed and ping during a game play cs

According to the documentation MINT reduces ping applications requiring low ping as in this case cs really do not know if it is effective to activate minRTT
The documentation says to give "priority" to packets of a class should set the bandwidth min to 100% of the connection that is to 2007Kb / s in my case and set the min bandidth of other classes to zero

Tomorrow I will try my other ISP that has more upload speed with the same configuration of the rules that currently have to rule that the problem is the upload speed.
