if you want to flash back to v2 of firmware with having the tplink1043ndv2
Requirements:
1-Download openwrt trunk (DD) image
2-Download tplink1043nd v2 firmware from tplink
3-keep a copy of the image elsewhere and modify the other to remove its boot loader

4-SSH into router using WinSCP
5-Copy the v2 firmware with stripped U-boot to /tmp/
6-flash the firmware using mtd (mtd -r write firmware.bin firmware) where firmware.bin is your "U-Boot stripped" TP-Link firmware file that you copied to /tmp folder
7-After reboot login to your TP-Link V2 firmware with default login/pass, go to firmware update page & now flash the original/complete/official TP-Link V2 firmware WITH U-Boot file
8-After final reboot For all intents and purposes, now you have a successfuly reverted your router back to original firmware
9-Now flash whatever firmware intended for the v2 you want.
ps: i have done this and it is fully working

So I followed the instructions and made a new Gargoyle 1.8.1 and a 1.9.0 to work on a v3 TL-WR1043ND.....
You can find them here:

I hope it benefits someone somewhere, but please use at your own risk :)
Thanks! I flashed my V3 yesterday with 1.8.1 using the bin file you supplied from dropbox.

Router appears to work like it should, but haven't tested all features.

Hello,
I've flashed my 1043ND v3 with firmware posted by oviano.
The thing is that there is no 3G/LTE option in connections available :( what is crucial to me to set it up with Huawei E3372.

Any clues on that one?

I managed to solve this.
I found Gargoyle firmware for v3 made by polish community where LTE connection option is available:
http://tplink-forum.pl/aktualny-firmwar ... 1043nd-v3/

However, as my E3372 is HiLink version I had to configure this this way:
- DHCP(Wired)
Then WAN interface option pops up and must be set to eth2 in my case:

After that modem is available at 192.168.8.1 address. Whatsmore it works plugged directly to router, despite people claiming that it needs active usb hub.

In case of non-HiLink modem it should be set to "Modem CDMA/3G/LTE".

Hi everyone,
I need to install Gargoyle 1.6.2 on my 1043nd v3 but I do not know how to hex edited header and modify MD5Sum. Can you please show me in details for changing the hardware id and calculating the new MD5Sum.
Thanks a lot!

Do you have to hex edit the the bin files posted by Oviano? I got the impression that he had edited the files already for V3 and then posted them. I tried to flash them as is but got the 18005 error.
