WNDR4300V1 <> cable modem issue

Post by Yarosh »

Hello

I have a problem with my router. Wndr4300 is conected straight to the Cisco EPC 3010 cable modem. When i reboot router connection between router and modem die... No internet, dhcp can't get lease from my ISP - Even if I turn modem off and on - there's no connection. It is vest strange cause if i do hard reset cable modem connection is working again... untl next router reboot. It is happening only on gargoyle.
Stock firmware work's perfectly. no issues with dhcp lease after reboot.

Same modem works perfectly with WNDR3700v2. I can do a scheduled reboots and everything is ok. Internet connection is ready after reboot.

Why my WNDR4300 can't comunicate with cable modem after reboot as my wndr3700v2 ?
Both:
wndr3700v2 and wndr4300 are on 1.8.0 (gargoyle)
wndr3700v2 + Cisco EPC3010 = OK
wndr4300 + Cisco EPC3010 = NG (can't do a reboot or scheduled reboot at night because internet connection is missing after that)

I'm reading through the threads to educate myself as much as possible. This is prep for flashing a netgear wndr4300. So I read this thread where this person has a serious issue with reboot and cable modem on same model router. I downloaded the same gargoyle version he has.
No one has responded to his question. Now I'm a little worried. I will be doing the same as him. Can anyone give us an idea on this. I know there is a experimental version. Hesitate to try that. Maybe there is a simple answer? Any one out there??

Sorry @Yarosh that your post was not answered and thanks for drawing attention to it @pckarma112

This seems like and odd issue, but we should be able to work out a solution I reckon.

As a first step I would recommend upgrading to the experimental version 1.9.0 as it is very reliable - and probably more so even than 1.8.X. Because of the timing of stuff relating to the underlying OpenWRT, Gargoyle moved thru (and past) v1.8 very quickly. 1.9.X is getting a lot of attention right now for both development and bugfix
Can you help someone else get Gargoyle up and running?

Thank you for answering. I hope that he will come back and try your suggestion. This is very interesting. I have already downloadedd the 1.8 for my routers. But your saying 1.9 is the way to go? I guess i have more reading to do and more downloading. Brings a question though. If 1.9 is to buggy for me.Will I be able to downgrade? If you see this and have time to answer. I would appreciate it. I cant wait to get this installed. Im hoping this weekend to do it. Really cant thank evryone enough for the work you all do. Just know Im damn grateful!

Yes you can downgrade. But do NOT attempt to preserve setting if you do so.
