You know what, I think I solved this problem. I backup the config file, reflash the router using the guide here.

However, before boot, I went into redboot, delete the rootfs, reflash the squashfs so that it takes up the whole space available. The rootfs wasn't taking all the space it should have been taking, from the guides of x-wrt installations (great installation guide, but x-wrt is ugh for dir-300)
