Setting Quota under firewall option

Post by teknoslayer »

When setting quotas under the firewall section. Once i click on apply/save settings, the listing of available quotas disapears.
I have firmware 1.2.3 and a Asus WL500gP - V2

In the past on the older firmwares, i remember when setting up quotas, they remain under the active quota section available to edit at any point in time. I do not have that option anymore, it just disappears once the quotas are set and saved. However quota usage under status shows all the quotas that has been added.

I have restored firmware, reset everything and the same issue still occurs. I have run out of options.

I just tried to reproduce this error, and couldn't. It seems to be working fine. Also, no quota components have changed from 1.2.2 -> 1.2.3, so I find this report a bit odd.

Has anyone else had this problem?

I have exactly the same issue. I have a WRT54GL with the latest version. I initially had a few (5ish) quotas and then added one more quota with multiple IP ranges to restrict them to 0 mb quotas to stop users assigning themselves IPs to get around their quotas. All active quotas are now invisible and uneditable.

Can I safely reset all quotas and try again? Will I lose users usage therefore quotas?

Thanks for any help.

Gary

Can you specify, in as much detail as possible, the quotas you set? If you can still see the quota status in the status menu could you provide a screenshot of that?

I've tested a lot of different quota configurations, so it may be something very specific in your quota setup and I need to reproduce your settings with as much accuracy as possible. Also, if you're using firefox, could you go to the Tools->error console menu and see if there are any errors there after you visit the quota settings page?

Hi Eric, I have attached a picture of the setup as it is at the moment. I was obviously going to fine tune but cannot get into the quota edit section to change it around. All quotas reset on the 10th at midnight so I will do a reset of the quotas and redo them then.

Thanks for any help you can give.

Regards
Gary

I see you've greyed out the hostnames, which is fine. It would be helpful, however, if you could switch from the "Display Hostnames" setting to displaying just IPs and post another screenshot. I want to try to replicate your setup as close as I can -- setting the exact same quotas on the same IPs.

So far my attempts to replicate it haven't had much success, so little details like this may matter. I'd really like to solve this.

I've (finally) managed to replicate this. I'm currently working on a fix.

I'm going out on a limb here, and guessing everyone who is experiencing this problem configured a quota with a limit of zero bytes.

That really isn't the proper use for quotas -- it makes more sense to use a restriction (see firewall/restrictions) instead of a quota to completely block someone.

However, I've committed a fix that should solve the problem (so you will be able to use zero limit quotas if you really feel the need to), which will be included in future releases.

This fix is included in 1.3.1 and 1.2.4, which I've just released.
