WNDR3700v2 and UML290

Post by toughguyLTE »

I successfully installed Gargoyle 1.6.1 on a WNDR3700v2 and its working well. I then attempted to install a Pantech UML290 USB LTE stick (Verizon), which is acknowledged by the router as shown by dmesg; however, the Gargoyle interface doesn't seem to acknowledge the USB device by adding a 3G (GSM) option under Connection->Basic->Internet/WAN->Connect Via:. I waited several minutes and the option never appeared as others on this forum seem to indicate.

Does anyone have any ideas for me to get the Gargoyle interface to acknowledge the USB stick? For people with other routers, did you have to do anything to get Gargoyle to acknowledge your stick?

I also have a Pantech UML295 that exhibits the same behavior, so I don't think it has anything to do with the UML290. And it should be noted, that the UML290 stick works just fine in a MOFI3500-3gn.

One step closer with this fix:

http://www.gargoyle-router.com/phpbb/vi ... =11&t=2607

Configured my UML290 with Gargoyle's 3G interface, but my router still isn't picking up a static IP address from Verizon nor is the router picking up basic internet connectivity through the UML290, even though the UML290 is flashing blue like it has a connection with VZW.

Will update later if I find out more on getting this to work.

I upgraded the WNDR3700v2 to Gargoyle 1.9 and everything seems to work great with the Pantech UML290. See screenshot, linked below:

Yes! Thank you for your persistence! There was some Gargoyle issues identified and fixed with QMI a while back and also OpenWRT CC (Gargoyle 1.9) added improved support

The last bug I am noticing is that the details of the USB modem connection are not displaying in the Connection->Status page as shown in this screenshot:

I think another post talks about fixing this, but I'm having trouble recalling it.

So I take it that you have functional Internet connectivity via the modem, but the Gargoyle GUI simply does not show the details? If so, could you please open the Gargoyle Status page in FireFox with the Tools-WebDeveloper-Debugger open and see if there are any helpful errors reported?

You are correct - I have basic internet connectivity, but Gargoyle is not showing the WAN IP, Netmask, etc.

I launched Firefox, but I'm not seeing any errors (see screenshot below). Maybe I'm looking in the wrong place on the Debugger?

Thank you - If there were errors in the GUI they would have shown up just below the screen shot that you provided.

The problem must be a little deeper.

@Lantis?
