TP-Link 1043 ND v2 updated to ver 1.8 wireless

Post by usairj »

I received my TP-Link 1043 ND v2 with version 1.62, it would not update the "status" screen, but I was able to add all MAC addresses and IP configurations with no problem. I try to activate the Wireless, and it will not save any changes on the Device Configuration screen. After I upgraded firmware to 1.8 everything still worked except I can change settings, but it will not save anything on the Device Configuration screen. What have I done wrong?

Sometimes weirdness like this happens when you have more than one browser window/tab open onto a Gargoyle config page at the same time.
Can you help someone else get Gargoyle up and running?

I have tried different browsers (FireFox) and IE. I have restarted, and done everything except reloading the firmware and starting over. I did purchase this from the Gargoyle site with version 1.62 pre-loaded. If anyone could shoot me some step-by-step instructions, that would be great. I can't understand why I can edit all other screens except for the Device Configuration screen. Additionally, If you set the router to "auto-restart" at night, does this reset all of the data counting to zero?

I would re-download

gargoyle_1.8.0-ar71xx-generic-tl-wr1043nd-v2-squashfs-sysupgrade.bin

and then re-flash the router with preserve settings.
Be sure to be patient and let the router entirely complete the "upgrade" without interruption.

You can also try to reset the Gargoyle router instead of reinstalling the firmware which is more risky.

The last time I tried resetting the latest Gargoyle firmware, version 1.8 the reset button didn't work and I have to reset it via SSH using firstboot command. You might have to do this to reset it successfully.
