Automatic Updates

Post by bplotkin »

This is probably a low priority 'nice to have' type of feature but I thought I'd suggest it to this great project :)

I noticed some firmware allows to set automatic updates, choosing when to check for updates of the firmware and can download and install it (without a reboot) for example.

For this type of project I'd imagine it is not very important but still an interesting idea... let me know what you guys think!

I don't know if this will be implemented.

1) lots of people use the Bandwidth monitoring/allocation tools

2) some people have tons of rules setup for blocking/allowing sites

They have to manually back this stuff up before each upgrade so
that they don't lose any of the rules/data.

There's always a chance, even if small, for a firmware update to fail.
Losing all that info would be frustrating for those people.
