Speed tests 1.7.1.x

Post by ispyisail »

Hi all

In my opinion speed hasn't really been a problem until recently were people are now getting fast fiber .

As an example where I live ADSL is still quite common and speed are 0.6 Mbps up and 6 Mbps.

My home wireless connection is a little better at 6 Mbps up and 12 Mbps down.

These speeds are no problem for gargoyle

I though I would do some speed tests with 1.7.1.x on TL-WDR3600 and I found in Mbps

Ethernet = 63 Up and 130 down
Wireless = 58 Up and 38 down

This is a basic install with nothing configured outside the required

I wonder if a X86 build on a PC will perform better?

I suspect this is going to be the number one problem for the OpenWRT developers?

Is raw CPU going to fix the problem?

X86 will certainly help.
The WRT1900AC is showing some impressive WAN throughout speeds (~800Mbps). It's running a 1.2Ghz processor. Possibly dual core!

Please be respectful when posting. I do this in my free time on a volunteer basis.

Hi there is a way you can test if faster CPU helps.

I overclocked my CPU in my 3600 to 680 MHZ.
If you wood like me to help you to do it just let me no.

Routerstation Pro (Mbps)

Wireless = 40 Up and 43 down
Ethernet = 69 up and 463 Down

wow, big difference same firmware

I wonder if we need to start a speed table on the wiki?
