How to make WAN ip fixed for DDNS ?

Post by pwcpp »

I've installed Shadowsocks client on my Netgear WNDR4300 router with Gargoyle firmware. Then the router got both WAN ip and Shadowsocks server ip.

Now the problem is that sometimes the DDNS (e.g., noip.com) may resolve Shadowsocks server ip instead of WAN IP. How can I make the WAN ip as the fixed one? THX.

Shadow socks is just a proxy right? Everything I'm reading is in Chinese so that's not helpful.

I think it would be grabbing that ip because the proxy is working properly. The DDNS script finds your WAN ip from an online service.

I'd say you might have to come up with your own method to find the ip in this case.

yes. Shadowsocks is a proxy. And the service of Shadowsocks client run automatically after the router started up, that means the proxy is working properly all the time when the router is running. In most cases DDNS script could grab WAN ip but sometimes it would grab Shadowsocks server ip instead.

Thanks for your reply. I'll try to find out the method.
