DHCP Reservation w/DNS
I have been using Gargoyle on my netgear 3700 for a few years now and I really like the way that it lets me manage my connection. I also appreciate very much the time and effort that goes into such a solid product.
I would like to see a feature added in the DHCP settings that would allow a reservation to be made that uses a different DNS server from the main scope.
It would be appreciated!
Thanks

Re: DHCP Reservation w/DNS
Excuse my ignorance .... I think I understand the request, but I do not understand the need. In what circumstances is this useful??
Can you help someone else get Gargoyle up and running?

i have an office and i want to block some access on some machines using opendns, other machines i allow full acess using a diferent dns server
Re: DHCP Reservation w/DNS
I have some network clients (apple tv, western digital live, etc.) that I want to set their DNS to use another server whereas the rest of the DHCP scope I want to use google.
An example would be a reservation for my apple tv that whenever it comes online (setup as DHCP) it requests an address, the router sees that this device has the reservation and applies the reserved IP and reserved DNS (maybe even reserved gateway too?).
maybe for example you want all streaming devices to point to a certain DNS server on the net but all computers and other devices point to google dns or any other public dns.

Then when the DNS changes you simply change it in the router and the devices automatically get updated.tapper wrote:Yes this is a cool thing i could point my wd tv at the US netflix! The kids would love that lol
Re: DHCP Reservation w/DNS
+1 for sure
I would like my kids to have a filtered DNS whereas me and my wife have non-filtered.
