here is my config..
Device Configuration:
- Wireless Bridge/Repeater
- WAN Port Bride to LAN
- Connect Via Client Bridge
- Repeater Disabled
and here is the problem..
as soon as I switch to bridge the fonera is no longer reachable over IP
now the strange thing (for me): I have connected a serial console - run permanent ping to fon IP - during boot I see that fonera responses to the ping, but when boot finished it is again unresponsible. Now in serial console I do a "ifconfig ath0 down" and the fonera responses again to the ping.
Pls let me know if more infos are needed...
Forgot to mention: used version is 1.1.7 - edit: same problem with 1.0.16 stable
additional info: tried in Gateway mode - same behavior

Re: Fonera 2201 client bridge problem
I will try Client Bridge when I get home on my 2201+
I've not had any issues when using this mode, but I also have
never done the Switch WAN to LAN port either...
I've always left the WAN port disabled.
Will report back with results.
Any special settings you used?
I usually use WPA2-AES or WEP 128-bit - depending on which
AP I'm connecting to, to do the testing.

reason why I want to assign the WAN port to the switch:
I would like to bridge my XBOX and DBOX to my WLAN and therefore I need both ports

Re: Fonera 2201 client bridge problem
these are the last outputs in serial console before ping stops during boot:
AP mode is working fine btw...
Code: Select all
device ath0 entered promiscuous mode
br-lan: port 3(ath0) entering learning state
br-lan: topology change detected, propagating
br-lan: port 3(ath0) entering forwarding state
Re: Fonera 2201 client bridge problem
I double-checked this setup on my fon2201 this morning with 1.0.16, and it seems to be working fine. Maybe post a screenshot ofyour configuration, to see if there's an error there?

cybero2912 - are you still having this issue?
I can't seem to repeat the error myself.
Does it happen if you do not mess with the WAN port
and leave the WAN port to disabled?
What steps or how did you configure it?
And is this a fresh config or did you re-load a backup config?
