Getting out of AP Mode

I have a TL-WDR3600 that's been working great connected to the modem for 2 years. I just switched it a month or two ago to AP mode and it's been working great, allowing me to use my desktop computer upstairs without buying an adapter for it.

Due to issues with range/speed I want to switch the two routers, meaning I need to take it out of AP mode.

I can ping it at the address I've set for it but I cannot access the web GUI, probably that's how it's supposed to run in AP mode right?

How do I get out of AP mode? Ought I be able to access it via IP? It replies to pings. Otherwise, I will need to know how to factory reset it without GUI access, I've tried the a 5-5-15 second reset pattern but I'm connected to it now so it's still in AP mode...

Ought it be accessible via browser? Or does ap mode effectively disable it?

Do the normal processes for factory resetting apply? Googled but After flashing openwrtaand gargoyle I'm not sure if the button does the same thing anymore.

I believe you're looking for failsafe mode, as Gargoyle is based on OpenWRT, this should work for you :)

I was able to get out, had to follow instructions on getting it into the recovery-mode with the very-fast-blinking LED then I could go ahead and SSH to it or something and then run a command to default it and I'm back up.

I'm having issues with it dropping connections randomly with our household of 5 guys... It's centrally located and I never had this issue before... It only happens with a subset of devices. I have it transmitting at max tx power... But I don't know.

Ping to the router from my computer spikes into the hundreds 400-800 range and I sometimes disconnect so it's not someone else hogging the bandwidth causing latency. Merely reset the router and everything is OK.


I have it set on the latest firmware (rollback to previous?) and reboot daily at 7am so it shouldn't have any issues...

Gargoyle 1.6.2 has wireless problems on quite a few routers, just roll back to 1.6.1 and disable ANI, all should work fine again :)
