WiFi and Range Extenders

Post by Alpine725 »

I am sure I am not the only one that has had this particular issue so let me start by apologizing if the following has been asked and answered.

I have a TP-Link TP-WR1043ND router running Gargoyle (Version 1.5.7) set up as a wireless access point. I have random connectivity issues (still chasing those down) but the major bone of contention I have right now is that I am trying to "extend" my connectivity using a Hawking HWREN2 WiFi Range Extender but after +/- 24 hours of the HWREN2 being powered on, the network connectivity of anything around it drops.

I have searched the Gargoyle forums and have come up empty handed - if something exists, I must be using the wrong search terms. I have contacted Hawking Tech Support and they suggested resetting the extender and changing the SSID to something different. I have done that and the count down has started. The primary issue with the different SSID is that it kind of defeats the intended purpose - extending the existing network.

Anyone have any thoughts or suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

A quick fix would be to put in an automated daily reboot until you figure out exactly why you have such problem.

Gargoyle have such feature build-in, maybe your range extender have the same feature too? Having said that, replacing your Gargoyle's antenna to a larger one is probably a better option than using range extender.

PM me if you need to buy Gargoyle router in Australia/NZ, willing to pay me to help you on your Gargoyle configurations or build custom configured ROM with pre-installed app or try to fix your bricked router. Yes, I am looking for job/work.
