New to QoS

Post by sheeps »

Hello.

I've been reading through the forums and documentation but I'm not exactly sure if I've got everything right.

I live in a share house and what to share bandwidth equally. So as I understand it I just need to enable the QoS defaults (for both upload and download?)

Do I need to enter any other details. Here are my connection details from my Billion:

DSP Firmware Version A2pB025f.d22k
DMT Status No Defect
Operational Mode ADSL2
Upstream 1020
Downstream 5721
SNR Margin(Upstream) 7.7
SNR Margin(Downstream) 6.3
Line Attenuation(Upstream) 29.7
Line Attenuation(Downstream) 48.0

I have also set static ips for all the computers via mac addresses. I set them starting from 192.168.1.2. Is that wrong? I wasn't sure whether I should set it within the DHCP range or outside of it? My computer still shows an ip address of 192.168.1.102 so I assume that I have done that part wrong.

Thanks for the help. :)

Hi pbix.

Thanks, yes I had but I think a lot of it flew over my head. I think perhaps I was burdened by the lack of time to tool around with it to see how it works in the real world.

And since then, my issues have escalated :| : http://www.gargoyle-router.com/phpbb/vi ... f=8&t=5454
