I am trying to install Gargoyle on a Linksys WRT45G v2 but the install documentation seems to very sketchy. It talks about using the 'brcm-2.4' images, but I cannot find anything named remotely like that in the download section. I did find a file named 'gargoyle_1.6.0-wrt54g-squashfs.bin' and tried to install it on my router using the router's internal update mechanism, but it tells me that the update 'failed'. Is there someplace I can find more detailed instructions on how to do this, including what image I should be using?
Thanks.

Re: WRT54G v2 install
I would not recommend version 1.1.6 on that router as I have it on mine and it is way to slow, often freezing up and I can not seem to flash it to any other firmware. (Could say it is partially bricked).
You may want to use V.1.5.6 or V1.4.7.
Here is a link to something similar.

Your router has insufficient RAM to run Gargoyle v1.5.9 (or V1.1.6) or the OpenWRT Attitude Adjustment version it is based on.
Some people feel their old WRT54G routers work well with v1.5.6 which is based on Backfire. Others prefer v1.4.7.
Because you loaded v1.5.9 your router has insufficient RAM to update its flash once the bootloader has exited. You must use the TFTP method as show here. http://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/linksys/wrt54g. I have recovered many times from your situation so just keep tinkering with the TFTP method.

Re: WRT54G v2 install
Thanks for the info. I will try 1.4.7 then. Should I be able to install this using the router's firmware update page, or do I need to use some other method?
Thanks.
Thanks.
