Throttling streaming and downloading on same host?

Post by AlecR »

Hi all,

I was wondering if it was possible to use QOS to throttle downloading and streaming on the same host? What I am looking to do is to put streaming services (e.g. Netflix, iPlayer) into a group and give them 3500kbps and then put downloading into another group and give that 1500kbps. Is that possible?

Thank you!

I'm very confused as to how I would do this. If I start streaming and downloading, both services go into one class and the streaming buffers as there's not enough bandwidth. The same ports are used for both services, the same IP is used...

Well it is true you need to find something different between the two. How about UDP vs TCP or packet size?
