Hello, I am looking at this link: http://phix.me/dm/ and I would like to implement it in the gargoyle firewall.user file. Is this possible to do if I just copy and past it in? How will I know that the router has accepted the config?
Thanks

Re: iptables help with implementation
My guess is you will most likely brick your router
QOS is already part of Gargoyle

Re: iptables help with implementation
I put it in but i dont know if it works. It didnt brick my router. I tried tailoring my QoS rules from the web gui to this guide but I dont think it works as well as implementing it straight into the iptables config.
So i guess no one knows how to merge this idea into iptables?

Re: iptables help with implementation
The author of the referenced link is apparently confused about how TCP/IP works since he does not understand how downlink QoS can and does work. The ability to control data rates from either side of a link is fundamental to how the whole internet works.
I would advise you to stick with the QoS built into Gargoyle and read the configuration guide.

The subject of asymmetric links is covered in the common Myths section at the bottom.
Gargoyle QoS is implemented in iptables already so there is nothing to be gained by using iptables since it is already used.
If you are having specific problems with Gargoyle QoS I will be happy to help by responding to your posts on this forum. I assure you that Gargoyle QoS will work better than what you are attempting to do.
