Any reason I would NOT want to extend DHCP lease times?

Router: WNDR3700v2
Version: Gargoyle 1.5.9

Issue: Assigned a few static routes for WOL. After a long idle period WOL will no longer work, and the device MAC address shows all 0's. After physically waking the machine all is back to normal. My guess is that it's just something that happens when the lease expires. I was thinking of extending out the lease time, but didn't know if doing so would effect anything else. Is there any reason to NOT do this? Thoughts? Other suggestions? Thank you to everyone involved in this project. I'm amazed at how solid my router has been since I got off factory firmware.
