Debug info or log

Can anyone provide a synopsis of the debug/log files one can examine via ssh? I know about dmesg but are there any other log files one can access? I've got a problem with my xBox and I want to see what's going on at a detailed level? For example, I want to see a log file that shows the chatter between the xbox and the router?
