Actually had to log in to putty with SSH to update root@Gargoyle password, as the original OpenWRT root password was not accepted initially.
Then upon first successful webUI interface, Gargoyle prompted for setting new password yet again. Once completed, all good.
Next challenge. Where on earth can I find a 3G wireless USB modem connection section? Must I upgrade/download a sub-component?

Re: TPLink MR3420 v1.2 advice please
According to Gargoyle installation notes, if one pops n a 3G USB modem and waits a few minutes, a 3G option appears in the Connection -> DHCP drop-down menu. This is not happening on my set-up. Any other options before I'm forced to return to (boring, old) TPLink firmware?

bump
Anybody get a 3G modem working on the dedicated USB port of this router? Should I fall back to v.1.5.4?

Seems nobody has a USB 3G modem working on this router?
OK. A practical outcome. Retain Gargoyle basic routing and forget USB 3G as a valid function on this model router. I quite like the simplicity and speed of Gargoyle firmware.
