Rosweill RNX-N150RT error message.

Post by Trlsd »

The RNX-N150RT is rebagged wr741nd-v1, so I download the following files:

gargoyle_1.5.8-ar71xx-generic-tl-wr741nd-v1-squashfs-factory.bin

gargoyle_1.5.8-ar71xx-generic-tl-wr741nd-v1-squashfs-sysupgrade.bin
I tried the rosewill factory webgui to flash, but both failed with the following error:
Error code: 18005 Upgrade unsuccessfully because the version of the upgraded file was incorrect. Please check the file name.
I tried many renaming methods, but failed. What should I rename it to?

I also found someone with the same problem on OpenWrt forums:

Hi,

I had the same error with a WR1043 and I renamed the gargoyle file to the name of an official firmware version as found on the TP-Link website.

However a user named whistler reported he simply renamed it to gargoyle.bin and he could flash it.
Don't know if that works for a rebrandend version...

Ciao

What did you rename it to exactly?

I tried gargoyle.bin, and that didn't work for me.

It maybe something more involved since its a Rosewill router and not Tp-link...maybe a header needs to be edited.
