Hi,
I am looking for a good router that will run Gargoyle. My main requirements are:
- Gigagbit Ethernet
- If possible, 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands
The dual band is where I am stuck right now. My current network is made of a Time Capsule and a recent Airport Express, and I use the 5 GHz for both. I've had extremely bad Wifi inside my house, and the 5 GHz seems to make things a bit better. This being said I have a small home (1400 sq. ft) so I might consider getting a Gargoyle router and disable its Wifi and just do Wifi with the Apple access points. In this case, the TP-Link WR1043ND seems like a great choice at a great price. *OR*, if I can run the router on 2.4 only, then I guess that might be fine too? Will my Macs want to pick the 2.4 network if it has stronger signal than my 5GHz network or do they pick in order of network names as it seems they might?
But is there a simultaneous dual band router you'd recommend with Gargoyle?
The main features I care about in the router are QoS and being able to run an OpenVPN connection all the time. Bonus would be the ability to easily change which OpenVPN I connect to, but if I can OpenVPN from a computer to a different endpoint than the one the router is connected to, I'm happy too.
Thanks for recommendations!

Thats what I doI might consider getting a Gargoyle router and disable its Wifi
It is unlikely that with current gargoyle builds you will get an improvement over stock in respect to wireless signal.
