Can't obtain WAN DHCP address without power cycle

Post by Exxodus »

I'm hoping someone with some experience with this can give me some advice.

I just transferred service from AT&T DSL to Charter Communications (cable ISP). I have a TP-Link WR1043ND running Gargoyle 1.5.8. Here's my problem:
If I power cycle the modem, then power my router, I get a WAN DHCP Lease. The leases seem to last around 5 hours, so Charter is reassigning leases multiple times per day. When the current lease expires, sometimes my network will stay online but with dramatically increased latency. Often times, the router loses the lease entirely and does not obtain a new one. Now, if I plug one of my PC's into the modem directly, the DHCP lease gets reassigned without a hitch.

I have been running the gambit of settings on Gargoyle, hoping it was a setting I set wrong, but I have done everything with no resolution. I don't know if it is something I have done wrong or if perhaps Charter's service doesn't like working with my router... but I am at a loss and I am turning to you all for some help.

Any help is much appreciated. Thank you!

I think I have the same problem with some devices with that version

you could try an older version of gargoyle to check, maybe 1.5.6
