DNS bug in 1.5.7

Post by Talbess »

I think I have come across a bug in 1.5.7
Using WNDR3700v2

I want to use OpenDNS so I select it in Connection > Basic setup but when I look at status is shows both my ISP DNS servers and the OpenDNS servers and all clients just still use the ISP DNS and OpenDNS is completely non functional. I tried every conceivable permutation of DNS settings and nothing fixes this problem. Eventually I edited /tmp/resolv.conf.auto directly and removed the ISP DNS server references and then everything performed as expected with all DNS requests going via OpenDNS. As soon as I reboot the router the problem returns and I have to manually edit /tmp/resolv.conf.auto again.

Can't figure out how to post images, so here are some image links:

DNS as shown in status:

/tmp/resolv.conf.auto (I deleted the last three lines)

Thanks for that ispysail.

In light of the "USE AT YOUR OWN RISK" disclaimer with the posted update, am I safer just staying with my clunky workaround until an official update to 1.5.8 or whatever is released?

I use that version and i've had 120 downloads and no real complaints yet.

but Eric's builds will be safer

Depends how much you want to live on the edge :)
