2x TL-WR1043ND - single SSID from both? (WDS / Bridge?)

Post by Andi »

Hi all,

I had one TL-WR1043ND and found that Gargoyle (1.5.5 originally, now 1.5.6) runs very well and stable, but alas, even with the router's tri-aerial and N wireless, it wouldn't reach the other end of my house, so I had no signal in the kitchen.

So, I've bought a second, and I'd like to setup the second router at the other end of the house to reproduce the same SSID to allow you to walk through the house and 'seemlessly' pass between each router.

I have a ethernet-over-power adapters, and would like to wire the second router to the first via ethernet, to get full-speed from both access points (i.e. I do NOT want the second router to connect to the first via WiFi - it will connect via ethernet, and use #1's DHCP, etc).

Is this possible?
As far as I can work out, WDS joins the routers by connecting #2 to #1 by WiFi. I don't want that...

Also, I don't want two SSIDs - either the same (duplicate), or different names, showing up on my devices. I'd like there to be just one, but with great signal all over the house...

Help

A couple of 2.4GHz Indoor Omni-directional Antennas from TP-Link will serve the purpose i believe. Just remove the stock antenna and connect these, then place where you need.
