WNDR3700 5ghz repeater?

Post by hgelpke »

I can set up my new WNDR3700 v1 with the 2.4ghz radio but I don't see any option to connect to the 5ghz band on my main router and therefor I can't get a 5ghz repeater/access point. Am I missing something?

Gargoyles only seem to be working with 2.4ghz at the moment, and it's only single band. I have 3700 and I recommend using Openwrt, seems to best stable firmware right now for 3700. I have it set as a repeater too on 5ghz.

Don't know about the functions of the Gargokle firmware on the version 1 of the 3700, but on the 3700v2 that I have here it works just fine. Just a question; in the Connection / Basic / Wireless, did you set it to Dual band? Otherwise on the v2 I don't see the 5GHz.

Hi, I'm trying to create a wireless access point with my second WNDR3700v2, since I already have a WNDR3700v1 has my router, how come the dual band option (5ghz frequency) is not available for wireless access point?

Thanks,

Marc

Hi DoesItMatter, thanks for your reference, but the link you referenced me to is from 2010 since backfire was in beta at that time and it is now a stable release, they haven't fixed this yet?

This should be possible (and has been for some time). I just tested it again on my WNDR3800 to be sure.

Select "Dual Band" Under "Operation Mode" for both 2.4 GHz and 5GHz APs, or A+N for 5GHz only.

I have Gargoyle setup on my WNDR3700 and I can't seem to repeat the 5ghz band. I'll double check the settings but my wndr only sees the 2.4 when I click "scan."

I think the 5ghz band only shows when you select it as AP but not as a repeater. Am I correct?
