I not sure on the exact answer but many of the new features are only becoming available on the more powerful routers

example "Tor"

found the answer
You will need an atheros ar71xx based router with at least 8MB of flash and 32MB of memory (e.g. TP-Link 1043ND, Netgear WNDR3700v1-2/3800, Buffalo WZR-HP-G300NH etc.), for this feature to work.

Nanostation M2 is specified to feature an Atheros CPU AR7240@400 with 32MB of memory and 8 MB of flash, but no OpenVPN GUI appears.

Status of my Nanostation M2:
Gargoyle Version:1.5.6
Device Configuration:Gateway
Memory Usage:10.9MB / 28.8MB (38%)
Wireless Mode:Access Point (AP)

I installed gargoyle_1.5.6-ar71xx-ubnt-nano-m-squashfs-sysupgrade.bin although the CPU is actually AR72x. Does this make the difference for OpenVPN to not show up, or what is it?
