USB Printer Setup

I am trying to set up a USB printer with Gargoyle 1.5.4. The printer is an Epson all in one. I have connected it to the router and the status page says it is connected. I have tried connecting from a Mac and PC with HP Jetdirect. From the Mac the print job disappears without complaint but never prints. From the PC I get an Epson dialog saying the printer is not ready.

On the PC side I have followed the documentation to set up the network port for the printer.

Any clues how I can diagnose what's wrong?

Are there any logs I can check?

Alternatively would it be better to try different firmware?
