Hi there
I'm new here and have only just got Gargoyle up and running and been testing it for over a week now with no problems except a few minor annoyances.
I live in Australia and our ISP's are notorious for our bandwidth usage and it's 4 people living in one house so I chose to do the Gargoyle route.
I opted for the better WNDR3700v2 router over the TP-Link one as it has more RAM and CPU power.
My first problem seems to be I cannot for the life of me connect any faster than 130mbps with the wireless on the G, I have tried changing channels and from 20hz to 40hz and so on and so fourth but nothing, wireless N i can get a connection of about 270mbps and it fluctuates a lot going down to 130mbps, this is sitting right in front of the router, it seems to be quiet erratic and poor performance.
I have no wireless phones or any other devices that I can think of that might be making interferences, I have checked neighbourhood wirelesses with inSSIDer and it doesn't seem like there is too many wireless connections where I am so I should be 'okay' there.
I'm wondering if I have got a dud router, it was brand new when I got it. I am connecting with a laptop with the Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6200 AGN adapter. The one thing I did not do was test the original firmware when I got the router as I was so excited to get Gargoyle on it and put Gargoyle on it straight away, now that I've done this I'm a bit concerned of the procedure to revert back to the original firmware. Is this easy? also is there any thoughts on the wireless issues? Anything I could try?
I am using version 1.4.7
Also I cannot figure out on the quota management page it says I can add a IP or a range of IP's, how do I go about adding a range to a quota, say I want 192.168.1.15 to 192.168.1.30 instead of having to type in each one individually
Any help is much appreciated as I am thinking of taking the router back for a replacement
Gargoyle is by far the best Quota management system that the average Australian home user could want or need.
Cheers
