WNDR3700v1 upgrade problems

Post by ed1023 »

Good day all I have been using gargoyle 1.5.3. When I up graded my WNDR3700v1 for the stock image to gargoyle 1.5.3 every thing went fine. When I tryed to upgrade the image to 1.5.4 the up grade screen came up and just sat there spining. I left it alone for over an hour a cople times. One time the update screen spinner froze and the other time it just kept spinning. Any ideas on how I could get the new version of gargoyle on my router. Or how to get the factory image back (same thing happens here) so that I can up load the new version of gargoyle. I have looked in the forums but did not find any thing. If some one knows of a post that might be helpfull please point me to it.

Like always when I ask for help I find an answer.
I was able to restore the original factory image using this forum post at dd-wrt
http://www.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=79802
Then I was able to upload the newest Gargoyle. If any one has an idea why the upgrade was just spinning please let me know.
Thanks

I've seen this happen occasionally to other members and myself.

Not sure what the issue is but I think its related to some settings
in Gargoyle that don't allow the upgrade to go correctly.

Future upgrades - do the following:

1) Fresh reboot of router
2) Fresh backup of config
3) Restore to Defaults on router! (important)
4) As soon as you are back into the GUI - reset the password,
login, and immediately upgrade firmware - don't change anything
5) After firmware update & reboot - restore old config file
** May not always work with old config - if any issues with this
re-configure from defaults, don't use your old config file **

This should almost always allow you to upgrade properly.
