With acc how quickly does the line speed come back up

Post by tals »

I had an issue tonight where I noticed a YouTube video was stuttering, so checked my line speed on acc and it was down to 1555 from 7600. So I resaved it to return it to 7600 which sure enough the video stopped stuttering. I then checked again and the speed is now 5000. My suspicion is maybe the line did go down that low - although that is bad for me if it did but acc didn't bring it back up quick enough.

Also if I want to try and diagnose if acc is doing the right thing what's the best way, if it occurs should I turn off qos and then check the speed of the line?

The critical things to report are the link load and the filtered ping times.

If the filtered ping time is below the limit the speed and the load is above 70% of the limit it will ramp up at 0.5% per second. So yes it does ramp up rather slowly but it does ramp up.

Most likely your video was not keeping the load above 70% of the limit.

I think I must have been coming out of peak, when I reset the acc it initially went to 5000 and then a few minutes later moved back to 6000 - which as a percentage it probably was quicker return due to the higher value. I'll keep an eye on it and thank you for that info.
