Just wandered in after googling for a low-cost solution to track bandwidth usage on a per user basis. Forgive me if I ask anything that is easily obtainable knowledge. I read the feature overview only.
1) We have a motel and satellite Internet with a daily cap. I need to track guests by mac address or IP (we do not issue used IDs of course). The cap I set would need to reset every day to conform with how the cap on the satellite works. Can do?
2) We also have employee access, which I would like to apply a different cap to, and lock it to their mac address. Can do?
3) Least important question: I currently have an Engenius (Seneo) ECB-3500 that is not listed on the Gargoyle list, but is listed on the DD-WRT list. IS it safe to assume that routers that will run DD-WRT will also run Gargoyle?
thank you!!
can I cap on a daily rather than monthly basis?

Re: can I cap on a daily rather than monthly basis?
Thanx for that reply. That's good news. I was a bit confused on the openwrt.org link for finding a router that supports Gargoyle. It appears to me (an alternative firmware newbie) that Gargoyle is built on open wrt, and if my need is for a turn-key firmware package perhaps I should instead stick to the hardware list on the gargoyle list??

I tend to agreeI should instead stick to the hardware list on the gargoyle list??
I would suggest the more powerful routers on that list, some of them are started to get a little dated
suggest
Ubiquiti Routerstation
Ubiquiti Routerstation Pro
Buffalo WZR-HP-G300NH
D-Link DIR-825 b1,b2
Netgear WNDR3700v1-2
or a cheaper option
TP-Link TL-WR1043ND v1-1.8

Also --and this is a question similar to what I posted on a new thread concerning the Gargoyle branded router-- in general can you apply features such as caps and monitoring usage by IP/mac address to clients connected to the LAN ports (wired clients) as well as wireless clients to above routers? This would be my nirvana.suggest

BTW I must also encourage you to purchase routers from here as it supports the project.
