access client AP from main network

Post by hnl_dk »

I have two 1.4.2 routers, one setup as a gateway and one setup as a "Wireless Bridge/Repeater".
The "Wireless Bridge/Repeater" is setup with a static IP address.
The clients connected to the "Wireless Bridge/Repeater" use the DHCP server from the gateway.

When I am on the "wireless network, I am able to connect to the "Wireless Bridge/Repeater", but when I am on the main network, am I not able to connect to the "Wireless Bridge/Repeater", but I am able to connect to any of the devices connected to the network.

Any idea?
maybe I need to enable "remote" access to the router someplace?

I am able to connect the AP, after I have disabled the repeater. So now I am happy again ;-)
But is there a special reason why it is not possible to connect to the "Wireless Bridge/Repeater", from the main network, if the repeater is enabled?

I also like to access the AP if in "Wireless Bridge/Repeater" mode!!!!

Why is this not possible?

I hope that someone will answer the question, as it makes the AP even more useful.

On the Wireless Bridge/Repeater device, have you put that IP
into the DMZ of the main AP?

Try that and see if you can access it.

I just checked, it makes no difference.
As soon as the repeater is turned on, are you only able to access the AP from the devices connected directly to it.
Trying to ping the router and I get a "Host is not available." (or what it is called).

I have tried to see, if it would be possible to turn off the firewall on the AP, but it is at least not possible from the webinterface. Turning off the repeater and it is possible to get to the AP again.
