Hello, I have had 3700v2 for a while now. My connection drops started about 3 months in and now i cant go a day without slowdowns then losing connection multiple times in that day. I got three RMA's and all of them did the same thing (however they stopped working on day one), so i thought maybe some type of interference is in my house or one of my devices is screwing with it. I installed the latest firmware and that didnt work.
So last night I came across a thread which says people had success with gargoyle firmware. I dont know much about routers so installing this seemed confusing. Gargoyle website had a lot of steps, but one guy in a thread said i can just go to routerlogin.net for netgear and upload the gargoyle firmware on there. I did that and the status bar filled up then the web page said it can connect anymore. I wasnt able to connect to web pages for about 10 minutes after that. Finally after powering down then on again i was connected with all my devices. However this morning i noticed i couldnt get on web pages with my iphone and i had to restart router and turn my desktop on for my iphone to be able to connect.
Can someone please tell me if i installed this correctly, and if not, what do i do now? Also about configuration, how do i set a password on gargoyles router home page, i dont see it. I also dont see a option for turning 5ghz on? What would be the best configuration on that page?
My setup is a 2 year old HP desktop directly connected, a PS3, two iphone 4's, New samsung LED with built in wifi, and a 2009 laptop.
