1.5.2@wndr3700v2,only enable Qos upload

Post by ooocxg »

1.5.2@wndr3700v2,only enable Qos upload cause download speed slow down.

My internet connection is a FTTH with 10mbit/s download and 512kbit/s upload(yes, it's 512kbit/s).

Here is my setting:

Destination Port: 80 Fast
Destination Port: 443 Fast
Destination Port: 53 Fast
Destination Port: 22, Transport Protocol: TCP Fast
Total (Upload) Bandwidth: 512 kbit/s

I have a pc running Transmission daemon. When I enable upload qos on router, the download speed is less than 200KB/s almost time. When I disable upload qos, the download speed boost to 600+KB/s.When I enable upload qos again, download speed slow down. The speed I mentioned above is got from router's GUI (Status -> Bandwidth Usage).

Any suggestion?

Are you using both upload and download QoS or only upload?

Please post a screen shot of your entire upload and download QoS screens while this behavior is happening.

I only use upload qos, and disable download qos all time;

I start a torrent download at 12:00 (upload qos and download qos is disabled both).
I enable upload qos at 12:12(download qos disabled).
I disable upload qos at 12:21(download qos disabled).

There is a connection between the amount of downloading you can do and the amount of upload bandwidth you have. Each downloaded packet requires an ACK response which takes bandwidth. If you do not have enough upload bandwidth allocated for the ACKs it will affect your downloads. But its curious that the QoS upload page you showed does not show the uplink saturated and yet it seems your downlink is limited. So I am not sure this is your problem.

Your upload QoS page shows no other classes active other than the Normal class. Is that true? Is the upload as shown on the QoS page ever saturated?

Is this a PPPoE connection? I know you said it was fiber but that is not the connection type.

I am not sure what is going on but I hope you study it some and see if you can find some other clues. Gargoyle depends on users to help out.

I might try playing with the total upload bandwidth setting. Start at 200kbps and move up to 300/400/500/600 and see what happens. Might be interesting.

It's true, no other application use network.Total upload bandwith is 512kbit/s,before 12:12 and after 12:21 is was saturated(about 64KB/s).
Is this a PPPoE connection?
Yes, it's a PPPoE connection.

Can you access your modems web interface and locate the actual line speed the modem is running at? New with v1.5.2 you can use 95% of your actual line speed as your upload QoS setting. When not using QoS you must 95% of the results of your upload speed test which will always be lower.

This situation only arises with PPPoE connections and may account for the difference you see.
