update

I have now swapped from my TP-Link TL-WR1043ND v1-1.8 to my ubnt RS pro and haven't had a drop out in 24 hours.

my next move is to install SWAP on my tp-link to see if that makes a difference?

From what I can see on the internet... it it looks like the device is not supported on Linux.

But there are some people who have also been working on it.

Try to check this:

https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=56125

Personally I would try to go for a Huawei device instead, if you do not get your ZTE to work.
