Oviano's can be found on page 1 of this topic. He posted both a 1.8 and 1.9 link to drop box files.

I just wanted to give some feedback for informational purposes. The flexion and oviano images did not work for me... same version error seen by others. However, the downgrade method did work: switch to DD-WRT, then web-revert down to TP software V2, and then install V2 Gargoyle. The DD-WRT bin called "factory-to-ddwrt-US.bin" is the only one that worked for me for the DD-WRT upgrade.

This file from the first page (https://www.dropbox.com/s/wirn7v0ljdt6t ... y.bin?dl=0) should work on the stock v3 firmware. At least it did for me on my 2nd V3. Just selected it under web FW update in the original V3 firmware and it flashed fine. I have an euro V3 version however.

Just received a new WR1043ND v3 three days ago. Based on information found at https://jacksontech.net/ and https://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/tp-link/tl-wr1043nd, I did the following:

1. Downloaded http://www.gargoyle-router.com/download ... actory.bin

2. Using a hex editor, changed byte 043h from 02 to 03. (Bytes 040h - 043h contain a router identifier, byte 043h is the version number.)

3. Using the TFTP process, particularly as described at jacksontech.net, I loaded the bin to the router.

Voila! Gargoyle on a WR1043ND v3 router!

I was emboldened to do this based on other information indicating that the v2 and v3 routers are identical hardware, and only differ in the firmware. The v3 router is looking for v3 files, so considerations have to be made for this. Other than this, all looks well.

We now support the v3 without this jiggery pokery.
Good effort though! Always good to see people having a go and coming up with good results :)

The v3 is supported? I didn't see any gargoyle tl-wr1043nd v3 files, and the v2 files are coded for the v2 (of course), and the v3 router seemed to reject any v2 coded files.

If I had understood there was an easier way to do this, I would have!

You can get it there. It fell off the main download page.

Hi, I just got my WR1043ND V3 yesterday and was researching and found out about gargoyle today. I have tried all of the available bin files in this thread for this router and nothing is working. I am getting the 18005 error for every one of them i try, even with renaming. i think my router is on some newer firmware or something maybe?

here is what i have:

Firmware Version:
3.16.9 Build 151021 Rel.74655n
Hardware Version:
WR1043ND v3 00000000

I am at a loss as to how to flash gargoyle to this router.

Try flashing openwrt and then upgrading to gargoyle.

I'm getting the same 18005 error as well. I've tried the changing the name of the bin files, tried the various versions of Gargoyle, tried OPENWRT, even tried a flash upgrade from TP-Link.
