Reverting back to factory firmware on TP-Link TL-WDR4300

Postby nikhilnh » Sun Dec 09, 2012 9:28 pm

Hi ,
I recently bought a TL-WDR4300 router. The router performance with factory firmware was terrible, hence flashed Gargoyle OpenWRT. After the flash, the performance was much better ( especially stability ), however the download speeds on the wireless would still fluctuate b/w 10 -16 Mbps. Hence I want to return the router . After some googling I came upon this link for reverting back to the factory firmware

http://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/tp-link/tl- ... l.firmware

As the instructions in the wiki pertain to OpneWRT, my question is do I have to cut parts of the image file as mentioned in the openWRt wiki and then use the Gargoyle interface for reverting or can I directly use the factory firmware image and revert back using the Gargoyle GUI.

Thanks,
Nikhil

No, you have to do exactly the wiki's procedure.

I want to flash back to original firmware too.

I am following the steps described in Wiki that you linked.

I have cut the firmware using a HEX editor to 0x20200 and the file is exactly 8,126,464 Bytes like described in Wiki.

Can you or somebody please have a look to the firmware before i flash it to ensure i made it the right way please?

Here is a link to the firmware:

So once I cut the file down using dd, the OpenWRT page seems to indicate that I can then use Gargoyle Update Firmware page and load the file produced by dd into the router to revert to stock firmware.

Is that correct?
