Okay. I believe I am rigged up as you requested. Mac network preferences says “configure IPv4: Using DHCP”

IP Address: 192.254.116.208. ( it was different before I restarted Mac mini.

Now the IP has changed to 169.254.116.208.

The status is “connected” with the note that “Ethernet has self-assigned IP address and will not be able to connect to the internet.”

This IP address (192.254.116.208) is a public IP from your ISP and is not the IP address that Gargoyle would assign you.

This address (169.254.116.208) will pop up if the network does not get IP from DHCP.
Is Gargoyle in default? or have you already set it up?

I am not sure what it means to be in default.

Yesterday I connected the gargoyle router to my Mac mini with its eithernet cable and typed the 192.168.1.1 address into my web browser. As expected, I got a gargoyle page and entered the default password, which worked. I changed it, entered all the rest of the information requested on that page, and logged out to reconnect the router to the satellite modem. I then got internet service, but no ability to log back into the gargoyle browser.

Again, thank you for continuing to help.

O.K.
So it looks like you have a bad configuration, or you accidentally turned off your DHCP server.

One more try before reset to default.

Set Manual Configuration on PC:
IP: 192.168.1.101
Mask: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 192.168.1.1
DNS: 192.168.1.1

Try if you get a ping answer:

Code: Select all

ping 192.168.1.1

Try RomanHK suggestion

Assuming GL-AR150

This is the path we are going down

1. Fail-safe rest (first option)
https://openwrt.org/docs/guide-user/tro ... tory_reset

or

2. re-flash via hardware recover (second option)
