Best router under $100?

Post by GargoyleNoob »

Looking to upgrade from my old WDR3600. I just got my Spectrum speeds upgraded to 100/10 from 60/5 and my throughput is shot. I'm peaking at about 65mbps with 3 QOS classes and pie graphs turned off. At any given time, there are 3 HD streams, an Echo Dot, 4 mobile devices, and a gaming system all using bandwidth and 65mbps just isn't cutting it anymore. I'm willing to use my WDR3600 as an AP if something in my price range doesn't have good Wi-Fi coverage. As of right now, my router is placed on one end of a 1700sq ft home and gives at least a 3-bar signal all the way to my driveway. Worst comes to worst, I've already found a central point in the house to place it if need be.

Take a look at this thread, as router speed performance on fast connections was discussed, and some Linksys router models under $100 were recommended as well.
TP-Link Archer C7 v2 - Gargoyle 1.12.X
TP-Link WR842ND v2 - Gargoyle 1.10.X
TP-Link RE450 AC v2 - Stock FW 1.0.4
TP-Link WA850RE v1.2 - LEDE 17.01.1
