GL.iNet GL-AR150 cannot detect external drive

Post by ViBE »

I have a 2TB external HDD in a case. My recent router see the HDD but this one not. Both use 1.9.2.

The only thing what I see is this log message:

Code: Select all

Sun Sep 17 16:20:55 2017 user.emerg syslog: ERROR: No drives attached, no directories to share!

Weird. It's a USB 3.0 capable case and if I use a USB 2.0 hub the router detects the drive correctly. Why?

Is it powered or unpowered?
Is the hub powered or unpowered?

The HDD is. The hub not.

Can you show a "dmesg" after plugging it directly in? And after using the hub to plug it in please?

I’m startibg to think it’s tge device itself. Do you have a different USB 3 drive to test?

You mean the router or the HDD? My other router handle the USB3 hub and the HDD well. It's a Nexx WT3020F.

The hub is an Orico W6PH4 model. The HDD case recognised as ASMT 2105 as far as I remember. I have no way to check it now. The HDD is an internal Western Digital Purple 2TB. I have a USB2 case too with a Western Digital Green 1TB HDD.

Which one should I test?

Plug a USB stick in to the router and run dmesg. If you see it detected you know it's not the router
