Generic Broadcom version on r7000

Post by dandersen »

Has anyone tried putting 1.9 on the Nighthawk R7000?

The Netgear R7000 has a 47xx CPU, and the openwrt wiki says that CC 15.05 does support the router, but with no Wi-Fi support

https://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/netgear/r7000

If I stick the firmware, gargoyle_1.9.0-brcm47xx-generic-squashfs.trx, on the thing, should it route and provide QOS?

I'll probably attempt this tonight and post the results back.

Good advice. 1st attempt was a failure. Router boots, responds to pings, but thats it. So I'll be recovered tomorrow, time permitting and seeing if I can make it work.

Definitely seems to be a no go with the generic broadcom image. Luckily this router fails quite nicely, just getting stuck in tftp restore mode automatically.
