Unable to disable 2.4GHz via GUI.

I've a TP-Link TL-WDR3600 v1 I dusted off to use and just loaded a fresh install of 1.8.1. The install went without a hitch but I've noticed some odd behavior. I don't need 2.4GHz for what I'm doing so I attempted to disable it and only leave the 5GHz.. I went into connection and changed operation mode to N+A instead of dual band and hit save and all it does is sit there on the spinning ball screen forever. I've been able to cli in and disable the radio and wifi-iface associated with it but it still shows up in the GUI as dual band. I've also verified that it isn't actually broadcasting on the 2.4 channels. Also, time wouldn't sync, I was able to do it manually via cli and it reflects the correct time in the GUI but no matter what I did before the cli change it wouldn't budge off of 11/2015.

Any ideas?

that version is a bit buggy

unsure if that the problem but I would fist upgrade to 1.9.x then move on from there
