hard reset not working tplink wdr3600

i have tplink wdr 3600 with gargoyle os.

Been while i used it and now forgot password. i followed hard reset steps.. by pressing reset button for 8 to 10 second.. i see router rebooting but doesnt seem like its resetting. i am trying to login using default gargoyle password.. i.e 'password' but not working..

thoughts?
