TP-Link WDR3600 - Poor wifi signal on 1.5.11

Post by SynGamer »

I have three devices that are stationary and my router has not moved since running 1.5.9. Before upgrading to 1.5.11 (from 1.5.9) all three devices were getting;

Desktop - 10 feet away, 5 bars
Laptop - 15 feet away and 1 wall, 5 bars
Roku - 25 feet away and 1 wall, "Excellent"

After upgrading to 1.5.11 I'm getting;

Desktop - 10 feet away, 3-4 bars
Laptop - 15 feet away and 1 wall, 3-4 bars
Roku - 25 feet away and 1 wall, "Poor"

Nothing has changed settings-wise or location-wise...very baffling and quite frustrating. Any help would be appreciated :)

Any help would be greatly appreciated. My connections/speeds shouldn't be this low, I'm wondering if I should downgrade to 1.5.9 and just wait for 1.6.0?

I have the same problem...have not found a solution yet. My wifi speeds with1.5.11 are 1/3 of what they are with 1.5.9. I have tried flashing without saving settings (which is revert to default, I assume), tried factory flash,& upgrade flash. I tried version 1.5.10 which seemed to retain my wifi speeds but lost all settings or something with power disconnect & I have to log back into the router & hit save settings each time to be able to connect to the internet. I've been flashing & trying different things with these 2 upgrades...flashed each 4-5 times & have to keep going back to 1.5.9. If there is a fix I hope it doesn't involve writing code to the program as is suggested for some of the fixes for other things as I know nothing about writing to tar files. I keep checking forum, but guess I'll have to stick with 1.5.9 until next major release & hope that works for this router.

Looks like no help is on the way. I'm still debating if I want to revert to 1.5.9, or wait for 1.6.0.

Is there anything special that needs to be done to revert to an older firmware?

I had trouble at first normally downgrading, so went to stock then back to 1.5.9 no more issues rocksolid with the longer range. So wierd. it sucks too because the new versions have cool plugins I wanna try like the PPTP VPN :(

You might want to pursue this topic over at openwrt.org.

All radio related software is from there and not modified by Gargoyle developers.
Linksys WRT1900ACv2
Netgear WNDR3700v2
TP Link 1043ND v3
TP-Link TL-WDR3600 v1

Found some possibly useful info on the openwrt forums, but not sure how we could turn "IEEE 802.3az LPI" off which might be causing the issue.

Can anybody help with this? Thanks!

Here's the thread describing the exact problem I was experiencing, at the end the solution to turn off "IEEE 802.3az LPI".

I just tried version 1.6.0......same results as 1.5.11. Once again reverted back to 1.5.9.
