You will probably find that it truly is using 20MHz if there are lots of wireless networks around you. This is s regulatory requirement. "Good neighbour" clause.

I think so! Memory tells me that up to version 1.0.3 works in 1.8.1.
If you intend to use DynamicDNS, let me know so I can give you instructions on applying the patches for 1.0.4. If not then it's not important.

Hard to say what is normal unfortunately.
My unit has a fan so it operates much cooler.
