You should select SSH, not SCP.
but first he has to upload copy the new firmware to /tmp with winscp, selecting SCP, right??

Note: Sometime around August 2011 (v4), TP-Link began to use 16MB RAM / 2MB flash for the Chinese versions of many of their devices. International versions retain the 32MB RAM / 4MB flash.
